Theodore Turocy is the creator of GAMBIT, a software for game theory. Turocy is Professor of Economics at the University of East Anglia.
In the early 1990s, Turocy (then an undergraduate student in engineering at Caltech) started working on the development of GAMBIT with Richard McKelvey and Andrew MacLennan. In the following two decades, Turocy carried on with the development of GAMBIT. The interview covers extensively the different challenges of this development, covering various topics, including the difficulties in finding the right "middle ground" between economics and computing, the financing of software development, and the evolution of the field of game theory.
The interview was conducted by Dorian Jullien, Thomas Delcey, and Francesco Sergi, on behalf of the Oral Histories of Economics project.
